I am psychotherapist/counsellor located here in Brighton. I use a mindfulness-based treatment approach when working with clients called Internal Family Systems.
When we are dealing with something difficult in our lives, we often adopt patterns in order to try and cope under the circumstances to the best of our abilities. Sometimes these new patterns can cause more harm than they help us. Trying to ignore or reject these self-created parts of ourselves doesn’t usually help to heal them. When these attempts fail, we feel frustrated and hopeless that we cannot create the positive changes that we desire.
Underneath all of these learned patterns and behaviours lies our core self: the part of us that has always been there, since birth, and holds all of the resources we can ever need to heal; all of the strength, wisdom and compassion we have been searching for. Initially it may feel as if we have become our patterns. During our time together, I will support you on your journey of self-exploration, teaching you the tools that will help you to release their hold on you, bringing you back to the person you truly are.
I provide a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for you to be able to explore the parts of yourself that you may be ashamed or unaware of at present, including your fears and defences. Our work together will be focused on your presenting issues. We will look at the past, but only in relation to how it effects who you are and how you react today.
I have Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Psychology and Social Work, a diploma in Hypnotherapy and hold training qualifications in Mindfulness Meditation, Coaching and EFT.
